Using behavioural insights to create meaningful relationships

Our background

Networky is developed by The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT). A social purpose company, jointly owned by the UK Government; Nesta (the innovation charity); and our employees.

Our goals

We didn't just intend Networky to be another social network - we aimed to dig deeper.

We understand human behaviour and we understand that we are much more likely to take part in an activity if we know someone else who is doing it, and when we know what to expect.

By connecting people prior to events we aim to help bolster people's social capital, decrease anxiety and increase turn-up rate.

Our approach

At BIT we draw on ideas from behavioural science literature, we then test and trial these ideas before they are scaled up. To test Networky we conducted a randomized controlled trial with the National Citizen Service - view our results.
